A shocking, frightening hostage situation makes a cracklingly fast-paced start to this fiction audio book. Karin Slaughter's most recent Grant County crime story is actually a double-novel, with two stories in one. It kicks off with a protrayal of mayhem and destruction. A couple of apparently psychotic gunmen blast their way into a police station in Georgia, USA, killing one officer and injuring other cops.

Their hostages include the Police Chief and Sara Linton, who works in the medical profession. Sara went there to see the chief of police Jeffrey Tolliver, who is also her ex. But the carnage means that a relaxed conversation between these ex-lovers is not going to happen any time soon.
